Duped was started as a side project in 2015 while working at an AR startup in Silicon Valley. It was motivated by playing games with cloning mechanics, or mechanics that required controlling multiple playable characters. There was a lack in games that had these mechanics that felt fluid to play, and so Duped was born. The idea of controlling multiple clones at once while jumping and bouncing around platforms gave rise to the idea of an action/platformer. After about a year and a half of irregular development, Reuben started No Moss Studios, finishing Duped and a number of other side projects to release. Duped has grown over the years from a simplistic platformer into an action and puzzle exploration of isolation and loneliness.
